Well, here I am again! Where have I been? I told you I wanted to explore photography, so I purchased my Canon XSi and along with the kit lens (18-55mm) I also purchased a tele-photo lens, (55-250mm) a tri-pod, a new camera bag, etc. And, I've taken a million photos trying to really learn the camera before I begin my portfolio. When I came home with 10
books on digital photography, hubby just shook his head and said, "When do you plan to find time to read ALL of these? Wouldn't one or two have been a better idea?"
Probably, but when I decide to do something, I jump in head first!
So, I promised, in my last post a while ago, a review on my Shark Steam Mop. I'll make it quick and just give you the low-down from someone who (right now) cleans for a living.
The Shark is easy to use. Just fill with water, (I stick it under the kitchen faucet - who has time for that little cup thingy?) and plug it in, pump it a few times and mop. Get the one that has 5 microfiber cloths included - you'll need them - and the two different heads. (The smaller one works great in a bathroom!)
So, how well does it work? Well, that depends on what you are mopping. It's absolutely great on my Pergo (laminate flooring) and on the smooth, shiny ceramic tile it's so good my client said her floor has never looked better! It's also great on on sealed wood floors. It's saved me quite a bit of time on the one house I clean that has all wood floors - and I feel it's so much better for the floor than mopping with a bucket and Murphy's Oil Soap. The reason I feel this is because it's just a little steam and dries extremely fast!
But I do have one floor that I'm not sure if it's Travertine, but whatever the stone, it's very pitted and has troughs and I decided not to use it on that floor again. It just couldn't get down in those pits well, my mop with the brush on it works much better.
As for the construction of the Shark Steam Mop, it's not very durable. If you are only buying it for your personal use, it's perfect, but the first one I had already broke - in less than 60 days! I did return it for a new one, and I'm trying to be more gentle to this one. But when you're using it for hours on end - it's really not made for that type of
abuse use.
Do you have a steam mop? Let me know your thoughts on it!
(This review is totally my own opinion and thoughts on a product I purchased myself. No one asked me to write it, or gave me anything to do so.)
