We have done nothing but run for two weeks now. My theory is that it's more fun to go somewhere than to clean the house!
Two weekends ago we went camping at Land Between The Lakes in Kentucky. We got there on Friday around noon, got set up, and the heavens unloaded! Buckets of rain fell, but my husband's uncle had set up a HUGE piece of plastic to make an outdoor room of sorts, so we all ventured over there and played cards until the rain passed, which it did and we had a good evening -- until about 11 p.m. when it started pouring again. I've never camped in rain that hard! It poured buckets and buckets for hours. Thankfully our popup only had two small leaks on the seams on the very ends. I put a towel under them and they were fine. And, with as hard as it rained, for as long as it rained, just about everyone had a small leak. I sealed the seams the next morning, and hopefully we'll never have rain that hard again, so we should be fine for future trips.
The next day the sun came out, the sky was blue and I got sunburned. All-in-all a good trip!
I had intended to post during that weekend, but there was no internet access at the campground, so I took the weekend off.
Then I worked for three of the next four days, packed up again on the fifth day and left that afternoon. This time we went to Lake Cumberland. We didn't camp here since we have friends with a trailer we stayed with them... along with three other couples and five teen boys... good thing no one was claustrophobic ~ especially since all of us, plus my friends little boy and another couple, spent Saturday on the boat together! Oh, we did have WaveRunner that one or two people would get on from time to time. So, there were ONLY 14 on the boat, my bad!
My girlfriends and I on the back of the boat.

It was a lot of fun... until the threat of rain had us flying back to a dock. We made it before the rain, but the temperature dropped about 15 degrees and we had a miserably cold ride back to the trailer, about 20 minutes away. You know, that painful cold. The wind blowing on your scantily clad body, the rain softly pelting you. Of course, a hot shower and a stiff drink later and we were all feeling fine again!
On Sunday my husband and I sent our son home with a relative and we headed on down to Gatlinburg for our annual anniversary trip. We decided, on the way home, that two nights really weren't enough, but duty called and we headed back Tuesday afternoon. We did squeeze in an 11-mile bike ride at Cades Cove and saw 3 black bear, (from a distance) and some turkey and deer. It was a beautiful day, the weather cooperated wonderfully with a high around 70 and blue skies. We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, I got my favorite dark chocolate covered cherries at Aunt Mahalia's Candies, and I purchased a silver bracelet that will hopefully not fall apart.
But now it's back to reality. No more trips for a while. DS's graduation is just a little over two weeks away and I have a ton of things to get ready before the party. In addition, I still have work to do in my yard and garden, (the weeds are taking over!) and the dog needs to go to the vet. (He's behind on his shots, heartworm meds and needs
Frontline - since the ticks seem to be out in full force!)
So, expect me to get back on a regular posting schedule... and feel welcome to yell at me if I don't!
